9 Fergie National Anthem Memes To Scroll Through When You Need A Break From Reading About Gun Violence For A Second
Reading the news can be stressful. With so much hate and violence in the news, it's hard to keep watching. Sometimes you want to just change the channel, switch tabs, and consume some quality memes. One can only be socially responsible to a degree, right? Sometimes you need a breather, so a breather I present to you. Read on for nine solid Fergie memes that are super spicy and have absolutely nothing to do with gun violence in the United State of America.
Lol! This is hilarious. Everybody knows how silly Phoebe from "Friends" was. It almost distracts you enough to forget that according to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute, "there are more than 350 million guns in circulation in the United States — approximately 113 guns for every 100 people." Hahaha!
Britney Spears has such an expressive face! If you look hard enough you can almost see her saying "also according to the CHOP Research Institute 'In 2014, 2,549 children (age 0 to 19 years) died by gunshot and an additional 13,576 were injured.'" Fergie sure screwed up big time!
If you didn't catch it, the line "Two thousand and late" is a callback to when Fergie sang the same line as part of the Black Eyed Peas in their 2009 Grammy Nominated Pop sensation, "Boom Boom Pow." In 2015, a study, synthesized in the NYTimes, found "that less than 5 percent of gun-related killings in the United States between 2001 and 2010 were committed by people diagnosed with mental illness."
This one's even more hilarious because this is an actual cross fade from the broadcast. No editing here! That quality found-in-nature meme really disguises the fact that "so many people die annually from gunfire in the US that the death toll between 1968 and 2011 eclipses all wars ever fought by the country. According to research by Politifact, there were about 1.4 million firearm deaths in that period, compared with 1.2 million US deaths in every conflict from the War of Independence to Iraq."
"Fergalicious" is a popular song by Fergie. Also, "1.7 million children live with unlocked, loaded guns - 1 out of 3 homes with kids have guns."
This one's extra silly because Fergie is personified as an annoying little kid with a trumpet! Almost as annoying as the fact that "Domestic violence is more likely to turn deadly with a gun in the home. An abusive partner’s access to a firearm increases the risk of homicide eight-fold for women in physically abusive relationships."
Her face is so silly! She definitely doesn't like Fergie's performance. She probably also doesn't like that "suicide rates are much higher in states with higher rates of gun ownership, even after controlling for differences among states for poverty, urbanization, unemployment, mental illness, and alcohol or drug abuse."
Whoops, how did that one get there?!
