My brother graduated last week, and like the good brother I am, I drove from Madison to River Falls to watch him walk across that stage. And, like the good brother I am, I want to be marginally compensated for the 490 round trip miles I drove in one day.
So, here's a poem for the occasion.
A little over eleven years ago I started playing an instrument that was just about as tall as I was. This week, I received word that a bassoon solo I wrote has been selected to be premiered at a concert in Chicago on September 21st, 2018.

Does anyone else experience that thing where every selfie you take is gold, but every photo somebody else takes of you looks like absolute garbage? Well, I took all of these photos of my friend Izzie, and I won't spoil much, but there are a lot of chins. Enjoy.
