One art form I find myself deeply in love with is that of very very niche memes. There's something special about memes that appeal to only a small community of people who don't get to see humor directed in that niche. Seeing memes about, say, being tired, or dealing with the stress of college are great, but sometimes you just want some memes about something so specific and hipster to just you and a select few others. Anyway, in my Chaucer lit course in my undergrad we had a brief break from the strenuous reading and were asked to write social media posts for one of the pilgrims in the Canterbury Tales. I chose the Monk, and the medium Snapchat. Here are some high quality memes. For those wanting context, click here for the original text side-by-side with a modern translation. For those wanting less context, click here for the Shmoop. For those wanting even less context, click here for the Sparknotes. For those wanting even less, click here for the Wikipedia. Anyway, here are the sweet sweet Monk's Tale memes.
