Notes On:
"Revelations 17 ... 2017"
I took a course my final semester of college called "The Bible as Literature," and I had a wonderful time. I took the class with two good friends of mine, and so when we would discuss the class content on the course message board or in private message, I would dutifully provide memes related to the topic. This work is a reference to the Great Whore of Babylon described in Revelations 17. In this class we discussed how the Book of Revelations is one of those books that can be read in any year and still reads well (as opposed to Books that reference specific political situations of ancient times that are complicated and unique to the time). This is a re-envisioning of the Great Whore using contemporary political figures.
This took me several hours of work and way too much time searching for high resolution images of Steve Bannon, so I deserve some kind of cookie.

"Diaspora"
This one here I made after we were talking about Jewish Diaspora. It made me think of "The Sweet Escape" by Gwen Stefani and then I made this.
"The Price Supper"
This work was commissioned by Kaysey Price for a Christmas newsletter. With all her family members grown up now, Kaysey said that it was difficult for them to get together to take a family photo, so she asked me to put them all in the Last Supper. This is what came out of it.
"Death Final for British Literature"
For my undergrad course, British Literature (Years 700-1660), we had an opportunity to do a creative final. We could make some kind of art based off some sort of work, and then explain why we made the choices we made based on the text and other criticism. I looked at the play Everyman, alongside the performance history, and then did some campy costuming hair and makeup on one of my friends. We then did a photo shoot and I shopped her into a painting. It was a swell time.
"Three Wills" and "White Christmas"
I don't have much to say about these other than I was honing my craft and making sillies on Facebook.
"Blessed Be"
My friend Kenzie and I really like pink lemonade (that's the two of us)
"Suggestions For Those Who Don't Need Them"
In some passages, the bible references a hierarchy of nine angels. In like, one or two in certain translations, it references ten. Our class - one that trashed Dan Brown on the reg - decided that The Tenth Angel sounded like a Dan Brown novel, so I made this.
"Blushing Christ"
In certain more poetic passages, Christ is likened to a bride and other feminine figures. This came out of that.
"Song of Solomon"
All you really need to know is that pomegranate means breasts in a lot of metaphors in this Book.
"The Very Best of Colin"
Thank you so much to Taylor Nyman for taking the originals for this photoshoot. I could not have done it without her. This was the cover photo for my senior capstone portfolio during my undergrad. It is a recreation of the cover art for Enya's The Very Best of Enya album.

I don't have too much to say about the GIFs other than I had a fun time, and the last three are all me and my friend Angie Yu in a playacting performance from 2012. The pain is real.
